November event to examine alternative fund industry
The Bahamas Financial Services Board (BFSB) along with co sponsor, the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, and ten BFSB member firms will be hosting Hedge Funds World Bahamas 2007 November 14-16, 2007 at The Atlantis, Paradise Island.
At Hedge Funds World Bahamas, leading asset allocators, fund managers and industry experts will describe how they have responded to these issues and share their predictions for the next decade of growth.
“With alternative investments likely to be part of most client portfolios, the conference will be an excellent opportunity for all participants to learn more about the alternative investment fund industry as well as a unique networking opportunity,” said Wendy Warren, BFSB’s CEO and Executive Director.
“We are very pleased that The Rt. Hon. Hubert A. Ingraham, M.P., Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas has agreed to provide introductory remarks. We have an excellent line up of speakers, led by keynote speaker J. Tomlison Hill of the Blackstone Group. Other speakers include some of the most seasoned hedge fund investors including ABP and GE Asset Management, and top managers including Paulson & Co and FRM."
Terrapinn, the conference organizer, which has been organizing hedge funds conferences for ten years, has created an information-packed program. Conference topics include the institutionalization of the hedge fund industry, IPOs of alternative asset managers, profiting from the sub-prime shakeout, investing in jatropha, water and other green commodities, fine art investing and hedge fund replication.
Much has changed since Terrapinn launched its first hedge.funds WORLD event a decade ago. In 1997, less than $400 billion dollars were invested in hedge funds. Today, the industry is moving towards the $2 trillion mark and contending with issues ranging from private equity convergence, IPOs, fee pressure and regulation.
“Discounts are available to BFSB member firms,” said Ms. Warren “but we also hope that others with an interest in the alternative funds industry will consider attending. In addition BFSB members have been extended an invitation to their Family Office clients to attend the conference on a complimentary basis”.
Member firms supporting the conference include: Butterfield Fund Services, Ernst & Young, GEM, Genesis Fund Services Limited, Graham Thompson & Co., Klonaris & Co., KPMG, Lennox Paton, Swiss Financial Services and The Winterbotham Trust Company limited.
