The China Offshore Summit series was introduced in 2010, and has been designed by China Offshore to educate Chinese financial intermediaries on the effective use of tax planning and asset management tools available in selected jurisdictions. It provides a premium platform for information exchange, business development and much-needed education for Chinese intermediaries in this burgeoning market.
According to the organisers, China's HNWI, investment groups and corporations have developed an ever-increasing need for sophisticated international wealth, tax and asset planning services. This demand, coupled with growing pressure from local and international taxation authorities for transparency has created a massive gap in traditional international planning by local practitioners. The increasing levels of non-financial ODI and identified HNWIs accentuate both the opportunity and the challenge present for local and international practitioners to deliver reliable solutions to their mainland clients.
The 2015 series included the China Offshore Summit - Shenzhen on May 27-28 and moves to the China Offshore Summit - Shanghai, November 4-5.
The Bahamas Ministry of Financial Services is a Platinum Sponsor for the 2015 series and as such had a presence in Shenzhen earlier this year, with an even bigger promotional presence scheduled for Shanghai next week. The first of the two-days of back to back sessions will focus on Wealth Management, while the second day will profile corporate structuring.
The Hon. C.V. Hope Strachan, Minister of Financial Services of The Bahamas, will have a keynote address on November 4: “The Bahamas: A Looking Glass Perspective of An International Financial Services Centre”. On the second day, BFSB CEO Aliya Allen will address the audience on “The Bahamas: An Ideal Gateway for Asian Investment”. (See presentations below)
The Bahamas team also has the opportunity to participate on panel discussions on each day. Amy Zhang, Business Development Manager of The Winterbotham Trust Company (Hong Kong) Ltd. will speak on “Techniques for Cross-generational Wealth Succession” on Day one, while her colleague Devin Ehrig, Vice President of The Winterbotham Trust Company (Hong Kong) Ltd. will participate in the Day two panel discussion on “Transparency, an Inevitable Rule of the World”.
In addition to the speaking opportunities, the Ministry and BFSB contributed a series of articles for China Offshore’s 6th Annual Trusts & Foundations Guide 2015, which was produced for the Summit.
