BFSB Announces New Board of Directors

The Bahamas Financial Services Board (BFSB) is pleased to announce the election of Michael Allen as Chairman and Craig Gomez as Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors. Both will serve two year terms along with other newly elected Directors to the BFSB Board.

The BFSB Board is comprised of two classes of directors: Those elected in their individual capacity and those elected to represent Professional Industry Association (“PIAs”).

Those elected in their individual capacity in September are: Earl Cash; Christian Coquoz; Alan Davidson; Michael Farrant (Secretary); Anthony Ferguson; Miguel Gonzalez; Dennis Govan; Michelle Neville-Clarke; Andreas Rentschler; Andrew Raenden; Charlene Storr; Arthur Strommer; David Sussman; Michele Thompson (Treasurer); William Whitaker; Paul Winder; and Alyson Yule.

BFSB always has respected and valued the role played by PIAs and welcome their contribution as Directors on the Board. Those associations whose designated representatives have been elected to serve on the Board are:

  • Bahamas Association of Compliance Officers (BACO) - Cherise Cox-Nottage
  • Bahamas Association of Securities Dealers (BASD) - Ivylyn Cassar
  • Bahamas Bar Association (BBA) - Wayne Munroe
  • Bahamas General Insurance Association (BGIA) - Peter Muscroft
  • Bahamas Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA) - Kendrick Christie
  • Bahamas Real Estate Association (BREA) - Suzanne Black
  • CFA Society of The Bahamas (CFASB) - David Slatter
  • Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) - Paul Winder

Leslie Issacs, Director of Financial Services-Ministry of Financial Services and Investments; and Wendy Warren, in her capacity as BFSB’s CEO & Executive Director, serve as permanent representatives on the Board.

BFSB, launched in April 1998, represents an innovative commitment by the financial services industry and the Government of The Bahamas to further the development of The Bahamas as an international financial centre. The Board is a multidisciplinary body that, through the active contribution of government, professional industry associations and individual member firms, has pursued an active agenda for improvement in the jurisdiction and knowledge of the benefits of The Bahamas for international finance.

Member firms are drawn from banks, broker dealers, trust and investment advisory services, insurance and investment fund administration as well as legal, accounting, realtor and other professionals.
