The Bahamas Financial Services Board will host a 1 day seminar on Financial Planning as part of the upcoming ShowCase Bahamas promotion. The seminar is being held on Saturday and Sunday, August 23 and 24 in the Arawak Room at Radisson Cable Beach Resort.
The programme is designed to cover a broad range of financial matters that impact the livelihood of Bahamians. Speakers from across the financial services industry will present practical sessions addressing the importance of a financial plan and how to develop one. Topics will range from how to spend, invest, secure a loan and purchase insurance. The presentations will be made in an informal setting to encourage participation and provide step-by-step guidelines.
Wendy Warren, BFSB’s CEO & Executive Director, said the objective of the session is to demonstrate how the various financial products available from financial institutions in The Bahamas can be used to empower Bahamians by increasing their wealth. "Through the sessions, we hope to provide a comprehensive picture of wealth management for Bahamians," she said.
BFSB member firms will present the information in straightforward terms and everyone should be able to walk away from the sessions with ideas in hand. "We really hope to increase the use by Bahamians of the financial planning process to help achieve goals and build financial freedom", said Ms. Warren.
Sessions will include how to start the financial planning process, estate and retirement planning, using insurance as financial tools, selecting the right financial institutions, evaluating savings plans, consumer credit and legal protection. Investing fundamentals will focus on factors affecting the choice of investments, reducing investment risk and money management strategies.
ShowCase Bahamas has been described by the organisers, Love 97, as "the most exciting opportunity for Bahamian businesses to meet clients and customers". The tradeshow is a two-day event with business exhibits and seminar sessions, offering networking opportunities to exhibitors, lecturers and participants.
