Venue: Fairmont Turnberry Isle Resort & Club, Miami, Florida
Focus Americas serves as a forum for analysis, discussion and action among high level international financial professionals on a wide range of topics affecting trade and finance with a Latin American dimension. This newly developed conference series is co-organized by the strongest consortium of associations active in the region:
The Bankers’ Association for Finance and Trade (BAFT)
Caribbean-Central American Action (C-CAA),
Federación Latinoamericana de Bancos (FELABAN)
Florida International Bankers Association (FIBA) and
U.S.-Mexico Chamber of Commerce (USMCOC).
This year’s conference focuses on the risks associated with maintaining cross-border capital flows to finance international trade. Specifically, U.S. regulators' stance of zero tolerance has created a franchise-threatening issue to correspondent banking relationships with the increased costs of regulatory compliance falling disproportionately on small and medium-sized banks. The results are changing the dynamics of U.S.-Latin American trade.
There are three strategic questions:
• Are Latin American banks prepared to face the impact of zero tolerance regulation?
• Are Latin American banks focused on the cost of complying with U.S. banking regulations?
• Will international trade to and from Latin America suffer as a result of new regulatory burdens? If so, what can be done about it?
Focus Americas is primarily intended for bankers and financial service providers affected by the changing relationships in the hemisphere. Join senior executives from leading international banks to exchange views and network.
