The Sixth Annual Corporate Wellness Forum will take place Thursday and Friday, May 29th and 30th at the Radisson Cable Beach Resort.

Specially organised for human resource persons, company managers and supervisors and professional persons generally, the forum’s purpose is to help organisational leaders understand the internal and external dynamics of their organisations. They also examine the effects of changing business trends on their work environment. Participants also explore the ramifications of these changes which may be economic, social, legal or otherwise.

The theme of the 1  day workshop is "Change Without Chaos", reflecting the need to manage the evolutionary processes taking place in their organisations while at the same time maintaining organisational stability and productivity.

The seminar is a joint presentation of Transformation Strategies and The Counsellors Ltd. According to Joan Albury, President of The Counsellors, change in the workplace is inevitable, yet when it comes, people tend to resist it. They prefer the comfort zone of the status quo, and only look at the negative consequences of change. Some of the internal factors influenced by change are management style, organisational culture, the nature of the organisation’s business and labour/management relations.

The event features a list of dynamic presenters from both the private and public sectors. It is a highly interactive forum with ample opportunity for participation to shape the flow of discussion and to ask questions. It also provides an opportunity for networking and for addressing issues of common interest and concern for those attending. There is also ample opportunity for fun, lots of excitement, and unique exercises.

The Corporate Wellness Forum has been strongly supported by major employers and small business in the private sector as well as by government ministries, departments and corporations.

An important objective, says Mrs Albury, is that participants are empowered to be more proactive in the workplace, and better able to motivate persons under their supervision. She said that the success of The Bahamas, especially in today’s highly competitive and globalised environment will depend on it.
