FSI Student Award Candidate

Tanya is a 2005 Graduate of the College of the Bahamas, with a BBA Degree in Accounting. She maintained Dean’s Honour Roll and President’s List status throughout her studies, graduating with a cumulative GPA of 3.70.

She received this year’s Ernst & Young Award for Accounting as well as the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce Award for School of Business Academic Excellence. While at the COB, Tanya was active in the Finance Task Force as well as the Accounting Association, while her general community involvement has included a volunteer stint at the Crisis Centre.

Tanya’s work experience prior to completing her academic studies at the College included positions as Customer Service Representative at Citibank, and Senior Audit Clerk at Bank of the Bahamas. While at Citibank, she received a Staff Productivity Award, and a reference from the Bank of the Bahamas gave her high marks for productivity. She was credited with being hard working and capable of handling multiple tasks, having effective time management skills, and responding quickly.

Since graduating, Tanya has been hired full time by PricewaterhouseCoopers, and plans to sit for the CPA Exam in November 2005.

The Bahamas Financial Services Board has announced three other finalists for this year’s Financial Services Student of the Year. They are: Shaniska S. Adderley, BBA Finance; Christine Leo, BBA Accounting; and Irvin Lightbourne II, BBA Accounting.

This awards programme is part of BFSB’s ongoing Financial Centre Focus initiative, which also includes the annual Industry Excellence Awards, and the School Outreach incorporating a Careers Fest and Essay/Speech Competition.

The Financial Services Student Award, sponsored by Colina Financial Advisors and SG Hambros Bank & Trust Limited, will be presented at BFSB’s annual Awards Banquet on October 8.
