With the mandate to develop financial services in The Bahamas, BFSB consistently has adopted a two-pronged approach of jurisdiction development and promotion. As the jurisdiction makes advances, BFSB updates its list of priorities for improvement in the business environment. There have been several improvements to The Bahamas’ value proposition, ranging from the launch of the COPA flight through to the improved access to the Canadian markets - both areas pursued by BFSB over a number of years. In March 2011, BFSB identified five priorities: enhanced efficiencies in public entities, talent management, increased market access for financial institutions, encouragement of entrepreneurial pursuits by Bahamians and business expansion through the residency policy.
